OBEDIENCE IN & THROUGH CHRIST
“Obedience must be in and through Christ. ‘He hath made us accepted in the beloved’ (Eph. 1:6). Not our obedience, but Christ’s merits procure acceptance. In every part of worship we must present Christ to God in the arms of our faith. Unless we serve God thus, in hope and confidence of Christ’s merits, we rather provoke Him than please Him. As, when king Uzziah would offer incense without a priest, God was angry with him, and struck him with leprosy (see II Chron. 26:20); so, when we do not come to God in and through Christ, we offer up incense to Him without a priest; and what can we expect but severe rebukes?”

A Story That Took My Breathe Away by Leon Brown

I heard a story recently that took my breathe away. Not only do I hope it does the same to you, but I also hope it gives you something to think about outwardly and inwardly.
Here's the story...
One day a Christian lady was sharing the gospel with an unconverted woman. By God's grace, the end result was that the unconverted woman agreed to attend church. Week after week the woman continued to go to church, until all of a sudden she stopped. When the Christian woman contacted her and asked her why she no longer came to church, the unconverted woman replied, "I can't go to church anymore because I see some of my clients there." The unconverted woman was a prostitute.
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." ---Apostle Paul

THE WAGER
(also, Pascal’s Wager)
The famous argument popularized by Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) which made an argument for the truthfulness of God’s existence based upon a “wager.” “If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.” The idea here is that since reason alone may not provide sufficient and undeniable proof, we are left with either acceptance or denial. But if we accept God and we are wrong, we are none the worse than if we did not accept him. But if we deny God and are wrong, the consequences are tremendous. The best option is to accept God.

The audience was in shock then and many audiences continue to be shocked by it today.
