An Idea Used For The Destruction Of Western Civilization by Jeremiah Baldizan

The unbiblical idea that men can simply will themselves to salvation, I believe is the major reason for the destruction of American civilization. Sincere men with good intentions and good old American ingenuity will do whatever it takes to get men to make “a decision”. To make “a decision” I mean to choose eternal salvation by a sheer act of the human will without any need of the infinite power of God The Holy Spirit (see Rom 1:16). Once the idea that a man need only decide to be saved without being an object of God’s infinite power, the flood gates of doctrinal compromise have been opened. It denies God’s deity by denying His absolute constant control over all of creation. By denying this essential attribute of God, namely His sovereignty, we deny the very basis of the authority of God’s Word. The authority of sacred Scripture is based off of God’s absolute control of all things without any exception including the eternal destinies of each individual in mankind. As God Himself says, “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9-10). This humanistic idea the man is the master of his own destiny is also responsible for the destruction of our culture, because if it is true, then using any means necessary to get men to make “decisions for Christ” is the right thing to do. The idea is currently the major foundation of our American generation, and due to this idea the conservative evangelical religious culture is unprotected against theological liberalism as most apparent in the church growth movement (pragmatism, felt needs, carnal Christianity, emergence, etc; see Eph 4:14). We see secularism in the political and educational arena moving like a juggernaut against today’s evangelicals because most evangelicals are fighting flesh with flesh with a gospel that gets “decisions” instead of an uncompromised gospel that makes new creatures (2 Cor 5:17) that are more than conquers (Rom 8:37) that overcome the world by the power of God (1 John 4:4). I saw example of this on television. Recently at a very large crusade in California with famous Christian singers, and renown evangelist, one of the major leaders of a conservative denomination spoke of the hundreds of thousands of decisions that they had gotten people to make at their crusades in Southern California through the years. I remember thinking, Southern California is one of the most immoral, theologically and politically liberal places on planet earth. If there are countless Christians there, why is California so declining? If large portions of California society are God’s people, as these religious men say happened through their efforts, why does the land remain in spiritual darkness despite their supposed success? The real question I want to ask, is this getting of “decisions” the very backbone to Satan’s attack against this nation? Men, women, and children make “decisions for Christ” and a major majority of them end up bitter and adamantly opposed to anything religious when they find their promised faith to dissolved because their decision was not based on the promise of Scripture but the promise of man (see Matt 23:15). These persons now adamantly opposed to religion are then perfectly prepared for assimilation into a new kind of secular/communist style anti-religious culture. This I believe this is part of a satanic machine to restructure our nation into one more in line with Satan’s agenda of “to kill, steal, and destroy” (see John 10:10). Freedom cannot survive without the gospel. If we truly love God, and love our neighbors as ourselves we must care for their both temporal and eternal welfare by preaching a biblical Gospel. Paul preached an uncompromised gospel not based of the idea of man’s ability to make a decision, but the eternal Covenant between God and Himself to redeem His people by the sacrifice of His Son for His own glory and infinite immutable love. We must do the same not being ashamed because God is the Master of the eternal destinies of men and “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matt 9:37).
